The film , the second sequel since the original two Eighties movies, sees the Spengler family , reintroduced in 2021's Ghostbusters: Afterlife, return to the iconic New York City firehouse to team up with three of the the original stars — Bill Murray, Dan Ackroyd and Ernie Hudson. The trio, with Murray as Peter Venkman, Akroyd as Ray Stantz and Hudson as Winston Zeddemore, have developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But the discovery of an ancient artefact unleashes an evil force that comes sweeping into the Bug Apple literally freezing its citizens to death. It means the Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age. A teaser trailer for the film, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, shows people enjoying the summer heat on the New Jersey beach when an icy storm thunders in across the sea and giant icicles start appearing.
