A banned movie poster for classic horror film Creature of the Black Lagoon, is set to fetch up to make a monster price at auction. It features the creature carrying the film's scantily clad female lead Julia Adams, in its arms. It was made in 1954 for the German market and was one of just a handful printed to run past censors before being issued properly to cinemas. But the state censorship board, the Bundesprufstelle, based in Bonn, refused to approve of the image, branding it salacious. Those in charge of poster approval felt it was too "rape-like” according to UK auction house Propstore. November 15th, 2023.
