Tatty, patched-up jeans that belonged to Nirvana grunge icon Kurt Cobain have sold for $412,750 USD / € 378.100 euros , world record price for a pair of Levi's. Cobain wore the jeans for the music video to the band's 1993 hit single Heart-Shaped Box. He also donned them an MTV Awards event-worn. The jeans, which were ripped and had been regularly sewn and featured contrasting material around the bottom of both legs had been expected to go for no more $10,000 USD. But they exceeded that estimate by more than 40 times. The jeans were sold by US auction house Julien's Auctions during a rock memorabilia sale at the Hard Rock Cafe in Nashville Tennessee and online. At the same sale , a guitar played by Cobain at the band's last performance sold for for $1,587,500 USD / €1,454.230 euros. The blue left handed Fender Mustang electric guitar was used during Nirvana's 1993 to 1994 tour dates promoting the album In Utero.
