A futuristic concept car made using seaweed and that can run on hydrogen and batteries with an 800 km range has been shown by Chinese maker GAC. And the company sees it as leading the way for the country to become a top player in the automobile industry world wide with alternative fuel technologies. The vehicle, a full-size SUV four wheel drive crossover called ERA, is also high on comfort and passenger and driver facilities. The design was a collaborative effort by the company's own design studios in Milan, Italy and Los Angeles in the USA. The front of the vehicle incorporates headlights, sensors, and cameras into a full-width lighting strip. It is adorned with a sophisticated geometric pattern enhancing heat dissipation. The body is designed with clean lines and an aerodynamic kit made from marine recycled plastic and seaweed bio-based materials. Inside, the ERA boasts elliptical curves, premium materials like fungus-based mycelium leather, and a colour scheme that transitions during the day from sunrise orange to sunset purple. When traveling with a group, the front seats can rotate to face the rear, creating an interactive environment.
