Pictures MUST credit: Space Perspective A company planning to send tourists into space using a giant balloon have released construction images of a test capsule like the one that will house them. The final production model will take eight paying passengers and one pilot on a six-hour flight to an altitude of 30,480 m. At that height, the curvature of the earth and the blackness of outer space are clearly visible. US based Space Perspective says the completed capsule will be flown as part of the company's upcoming uncrewed test flights, with crewed flights planned for 2024. In 2021 the Florida firm successfully flew a capsule simulator to space using the hydrogen-filled balloon. Since then, a team has been working on the design and manufacturing of the capsule, called Spaceship Neptune, to resume testing. The eventual space flight capsule will be equipped with plush seats, a refreshments bar, Wi-Fi communications system capable of live-streaming, 360-degree panoramic windows and a below-deck toilet. Seats are already being sold in advance for $125,000 USD / €113.400 euros. Data gathered during the upcoming uncrewed test flights will inform the development of a commercial-grade capsule.
