Pictures must credit: ABC Oprah Winfrey has revealed she quit Weight Watchers due to her upcoming new special about the rise of prescription weight loss drugs. The 70-year-old , whose weight has fluctuated over the years and been a huge talking point with fans and the media, had been on the board of the lifestyle firm since 2015. Speaking in the Jimmy Kimmel US chat show, she also said she was told by doctors that obesity was "a disease”. Talking about decision to leave Weight Watchers she said: " I wanted to be able to talk about whatever I wanted to talk about, and Weight Watchers is now in the business of being a weight health company that also administers drug medications for weight. " I did not want to have the appearance of any conflict of interest. "'So I resigned from the board and donated all of my shares to the National Museum of African American History and Culture.” Oprah added has told how having knee replacement surgery in 2021 inspired her to make the weight loss documentary and put her on the path to losing weight her own way. She explained: "When you first come home I could not lift my leg off the bed. " I couldn't move my foot and I made a vow that God , if you let me walk again I promise I will get myself in shape.
