Pictures must credit: Heritage Auctions The floating door frame from blockbuster movie Titanic that Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet clung to after its sinking has sold at auction for $718,750 USD / €661.610 euros at auction. The memorable scene from the 1997 film about the liner's sinking sees DiCaprio's character Jack in the water holding onto the door until he is overcome by cold and dies. Winslet's character Rose is eventually saved by onto of the wooden frame which was not big enough for both characters to get on. The prop, described as the "Hero Floating Wood Panel” is made of lightweight balsa wood. It was crafted with ornate floral accents and scrolling curves based on a real door salvaged from the 1912 Titanic tragedy when the strip struck an iceberg on its maiden voyage from the UK to New York. It was sold by USA saleroom Heritage Auctions based in Dallas , Texas on day three of a sale of film props that decorated Planet Hollywood restaurants around the globe. Picture supplied by JLPPA
