It uses algorithms, which accurately detect and respond to radar signals from hostile missiles by an unknown enemy in real time. It allows pilots to take preemptive return fire or voiding action. The team behind the so-called cognitive electronic warfare system has been given a $6.4 million USD grant by the US Air Force to develop its abilities. It has been created by engineers at the Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, Texas. They are conducting research to develop a reliable algorithm that will protect aircrews.
