The Scots Guards Regimental family gather at a special parade in Westminster on 14th April 2024 with His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent, who this year has given a remarkable 50 years of service to the regiment as their Colonel, firstly attending a service at the Guards Chapel, wreath laying at the Guards Memorial on Horse Guards Road, and salute for the march past of the Regiment on Birdcage Walk. Following a distinguished career in the British Army, His Royal Highness was appointed Colonel of the Scots Guards Regiment on 9th September 1974. The Duke of Kent has devoted a record 50 years of service to the regiment – the longest of any Royal Colonel that has borne the role before. He has attended every Trooping of The Colour as Colonel Scots Guards since 1975 and is the Scots Guards' 26th Colonel.
