A barbed-wire fence and barracks are pictured at the Memorial and Museum Auschwitz-Birkenau, at the site of the former German Nazi concentration and extermination camp, in Oswiecim, Poland, on January 27, 2025, the day of commemorations on the 80th anniversary of the camp's liberation by the Red Army. The camp was set up by Nazi German occupiers in southern Poland in 1940 and liberated by Soviet troops on January 27, 1945 -- just months before the end of the Second World War.
