Picture MUST credit: South China University of Technology. A cutting-edge robotic dog that can hit the water and swim has been developed by engineers. The mechanical quadruped is said to be capable of roving across both land and water with remarkable efficiency. Existing amphibious robots are largely inspired by reptiles or insects, and often face limitations in agility, dynamics, and load capacity. But by basing one on the doggy-paddle swimming style of canines makes it easier for the robot transition between land and water. And it paves the way for future applications in environmental research, military vehicles, rescue missions, and beyond according to the team behind it. The robot is 300 mm, 100 mm wide and weighs 2.25 kg. It was created by a team from the South China University of Technology in Guangzhou, China The swimming robot dog features a unique paddling mechanism, modelled on the way dogs swim. It involved moving the four legs in a sequence of left-front , left-rear , right-front and then right-rear just like a real pup. Careful engineering of its structure, including precise weight and buoyancy balance, ensures stable and effective aquatic performance.
